Fifteen years ago, on May 17, 2011, the updated Law of the Republic of Belarus 262-Z «On Copyright and Related Rights» was adopted. The law regulates relations arising from the creation and use of scientific, literary, and artistic works (copyright), performances, phonograms, and broadcasts of broadcasting or cable organizations (related rights).

This legislation is a fundamental element of the intellectual property system in the Republic of Belarus and has laid a solid foundation for a modern system for protecting the rights of creators and copyright holders.

Over the past 15 years, the law has been repeatedly improved. A key milestone was the amendments aimed at developing collective management of economic rights. The National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP), as an organization for the collective management of the economic rights of authors and other copyright holders, collectively managing the economic rights of over 6,000 Belarusian authors and copyright holders, implements the law's provisions daily.

In addition, NCIP provides services for the voluntary registration and deposit of copyright and related rights.

The latest versions of national and international intellectual property legislation are available in the «Legislation» section of the NCIP official website.
