The House of Representatives discussed amendments to legislation on the legal protection of intellectual property rights

On May 14, 2026, a meeting of the working group of the Permanent Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Education, Culture and Science was held to finalize the draft Law of the Republic of Belarus В«On Amendments to legislation on the legal protection of intellectual property rightsВ».
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Belarus, the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the National Center for Legislation and Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus, the National Center of Intellectual Property, the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus, and the Belarusian State University.
During the discussion, proposals were considered to improve the norms of the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated May 17, 2011 No. 262-Z В«On Copyright and Related RightsВ», taking into account international and national law enforcement practice, as well as issues of legal regulation of relations arising in connection with the creation and use of works of art.
Thus, the participants of the meeting considered the issues of the use of copyright objects, objects of related rights in the framework of cultural, sports, educational, socio-political events, as well as the use of legitimately published musical works in the creation of TV shows and films.
The suggestions made will be taken into account when finalizing the draft Law.
