The Summer School of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) finished its work in the National Library of Belarus on June 7, 2024.
The organizers were WIPO, the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, and the National Center of Intellectual Property (the NCIP).
The program of the event included 7 sections on 36 topics, where new trends in the field of intellectual property (IP), problems of artificial intelligence in the field of copyright and related rights, protection and implementation of the results of intellectual activity in production, patents and nanotechnology, economic aspects of IP, as well as topical issues of protection of industrial property objects, traditional knowledge, genetic resources and traditional cultural expressions, etc. were discussed.
As part of the WIPO Summer School, participants also attended workshops on drafting applications for registration of various IP objects and took part in educational tours and excursions.
The event closed with a plenary session featuring presentations of the group reports. The closing ceremony of the Summer School was addressed by Uladzimir Rabavolau, Director General of the NCIP, and Maria-Stella Ntamark, WIPO Summer Schools Program Coordinator of the WIPO Academy (online).
